The accused, Neeraj, a resident of Kheri village, and Gurpreet, alias Preeti, of Mianpur Handur village, were accomplices of Davinder Singh (22) of Lehrrian village who was shot dead on June 2 at the Bunga Sahib bus stand.

At a press conference in the presence of Additional Director General of Police Rohit Chaudhary, Ropar SSP Raj Bachan Sandhu said two pistols used in the crime and three cartridges were recovered from the two gangsters.

The ADGP gave appreciation certificates to DSPs Varinderjit Singh, Raminder Singh Kahlon and Manvir Bajwa for arresting the gangsters within a week. Six other policemen have been awarded with appreciation certificates and cash prizes of Rs 5,000 each.

SSP Sandhu said Chanpreet was named as an accused in the murder of Davinder Singh. After investigation, the police gave a clean chit to Chanpreet.
