Two suicide cases reported from city

CHANDIGARH: Two suicide cases have been reported from the city in the past 24 hours.

Chandigarh, June 24

Two suicide cases have been reported from the city in the past 24 hours. A man reportedly committed suicide at Dadu Majra while another one took the extreme step at Maloya.

According to the police, in the first incident, the victim, identified as Amandeep (35), a resident of Maloya, committed suicide by hanging himself.

The police said after having lunch yesterday, the victim went to his room. In the evening, the victim’s mother found him hanging.

The police were informed about the incident after which the victim was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Sources said the victim was depressed for quite some time.

In the second incident, Hardeep, a resident of Dadu Majra, committed suicide by hanging himself last night.

The victim’s brother, Vijay, said Hardeep was depressed over being unemployed.

No suicide note was found in both cases. Inquest proceedings have been initiated at the Maloya police station.

The postmortem examination of both victims was conducted and the bodies handed over to their kin.
