UT cancels Dec 10 holiday in govt schools

CHANDIGARH:In view of the coming Municipal Corporation elections, the UT Education Department has cancelled the second Saturday holiday on December 10 in government/government-aided schools.

In view of the coming Municipal Corporation elections, the UT Education Department has cancelled the second Saturday holiday on December 10 in government/government-aided schools.

In lieu of that, all government/government-aided schools in the UT will remain closed on the third Saturday (December 17).

In a press note issued here today, the department said the school heads would help set up polling booths for the MC elections in their respective schools by providing proper infrastructure/support staff as per the requirement/directions of the State Election Commission, Chandigarh.
