UT declares holiday on April 14

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Administration has declared April 14 a public holiday in government offices/ boards/corporations/institutions under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, on account of Ambedkar Jayanti.

Parimal Rai opens Apni Mandi  

Chandigarh: UT Adviser Parimal Rai inaugurated an Apni Mandi at the Mela Ground, Sector 34, on Thursday. Addressing a gathering occasion, Rai said the ID card system had been introduced to streamline the process of identification of vendors and farmers selling their produce at the mandi. Rai handed over ID cards to some vendors and farmers.

Scooterist dies in mishap   

Chandigarh: A scooterist was killed in a road accident outside Gate No. 2 of Panjab University on Wednesday night. According to the police, the victim has been identified as Johny (28), a resident of Nayagaon. He was returning home from Sector 40 when his motorcycle collided with a cycle. Sources said both the victim and the cyclist fell on the road. The motorcyclist received serious injuries and was rushed to the PGI. Later,  the victim succumbed to his injuries.  A case has been registered at the Sector 11 police station.
