Chandigarh fared worst in the tricity in the CBSE Class XII examinations, the results of which were declared on Saturday. While Panchkula topped in the tricity, Mohali stood second and Chandigarh finished third in the tricity in terms of pass percentage. As many as 20.65 per cent of Chandigarh students could not clear Class XII examinations as the city witnessed only 79.35 pass percentage.

Though this year Chandigarh’s Class XII pass percentage was 79.35, it was slight better as compared to 2017’s pass percentage of 79.34. In year 2016, Chandigarh had witnessed pass percentage of 74.92 and in 2015 it was 78.68 per cent. Of 19,717 students who appeared for Class XII exams in Chandigarh, only 15,645 students passed. Girls outshone boys in Chandigarh as girls’ pass percentage was 84.51, whereas their male counterparts were at 75.32 per cent.

In Chandigarh, out of 11,077 boys who appeared for Class XII exams, 8,343 passed. Similarly, out of 8,640 girl students, 7,302 passed.

Panchkula topped the tricity with pass percentage of 90.15. Out of 1,310 students, who appeared for Class XII examinations in Panchkula, 1,181 students passed. In total, 573 girls and 737 boys passed in Panchkula, with boys’ pass percentage of 86.97 and girls’ pass percentage of 94.24.

Mohali ranked second in the tricity with 83.44 pass percentage. As per the result compiled by the CBSE, 2,113 students of different streams appeared for exam in Mohali and 1,763 passed. In Mohali, the pass percentage of boys was 77.86, whereas the same of girls was 90.35. Of total 1,170 boys appeared in Mohali, 911 boys passed. Similarly, out of 943 girls, who appeared for Class XII exams in Mohali, 852 girl students passed.
