UT policy on transfer of flats draws flak

CHANDIGARH: A day after the UT Administration announced its policy for transfer of flats, various organisations today flayed certain conditions laid in it.

Chandigarh, February 11

A day after the UT Administration announced its policy for transfer of flats, various organisations today flayed certain conditions laid in it.

A meeting of the Directors of the Chandigarh State Co-operative Housing Federation (apex body of Co-operative Housing Societies) was held today to discuss the policy. The members expressed displeasure over certain conditions.

Housefed Chairman Davinder Kumar Gupta demanded that the Administration should clarify the process of Convenyance Deed/Lease Deed and remove the clause that the intending buyer should not have any property in the tricity, as even the Chandigarh Housing Board has removed the clause.

The members also opposed the hike in transfer fees.

Gupta said the members would soon take up the issues with the UT Adviser.

Meanwhile, in a joint statement, Group Housing Cooperative Societies Welfare Council chairman Satish Chandra Sharma, former Mayor and councillor from ward number 13 Harphool Kalyan and RWA Sector 50 vice-president Pardeep Bhardwaj urged the Chandigarh Administration to address the gaping holes in the guidelines. They stated that allowing sale/purchase of the share of flat through conveyance deed was not expected to be a hassle-free procedure.

They added that the conveyance deed was registered between the allotting authority, which, in the present context, was Chandigarh Housing Board, and the members/GPA/SPA and Sub-GPA holders in the societies. However, the CHB was yet to formulate a policy and set up an authority to register the conveyance deed. Further, the CHB had not clarified about the status of the Society in regard to the conveyance deed, they stated.

They opposed the condition that the intending purchaser has to give an affidavit about not having a property in the tricity. — TNS
