Water tariff hike unjustified

This refers to the news report, ''Civic body proposes to double water tariff'' (Chandigarh Tribune, June 23). It is not fair.

This refers to the news report, 'Civic body proposes to double water tariff' (Chandigarh Tribune, June 23). It is not fair. The Municipal Corporation (MC) is not supplying clean water to residents. Muddy water is what we get in taps whether for drinking, bathing or other purposes. We have to install RO water purifiers to get clean drinking water at our own expenses. Will the MC return the money spent by us on it. The MC should first supply pure drinking water to the residents and then its decision to increase the tariff can be justified, otherwise not. Moreover, it should stop misusing funds at its disposal. It had purchased "useless" dustbins at a huge cost. Has the authorities took any action against this wastage of money? City councillors go on 'study tours' on the taxpayers' money. Has anybody took action against the same? Why they want to recover the 'misused' money from the citizens?

Inhuman act

It is disheartening that a boy was shot dead when he was found plucking mangoes from a tree in an orchard in Bihar. A security guard gunned him down. It is a clear example of inhumanity and merciless attitude shown by the guard. It should not be done. Without any doubt, the child was innocent. Thieves and criminals are dauntlessly hoaxing people. However, no stringent action is taken in such cases. Everyday, lakhs of money and gold are looted from residents. Women are not at all safe. There is no fear of law among criminals. But when a little boy plucked mangoes from a tree, he was shot dead. It is really stinging and leaving me in excruciating pain.

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
