Seerat, the young wife of Ekam Singh Dhillon, who was found murdered in Phase IIIB1, here yesterday, today confessed before a local court that she had shot dead her husband.

Seerat told the court that Ekam used to harass her for money. “There used to be arguments between us and he also beat me up at times, following which I used to remain under stress,” she further submitted.

When the judge asked who had shot Ekam, Seerat confessed she had shot him dead on Saturday night. She further said that her brother, Vinay Partap Singh, and his friend Jagat, had helped her in disposing of the body.

She also told the court that the pistol used in the crime belonged to Ekam. It was an unlicensed weapon which was lying in the house. According to her, after using it, she had kept it back.

When the police told the court that the members of Ekam’s family wanted other names to be included in the FIR, the court declined to accept the plea on the ground that Seerat had already made a confession that three persons were involved in the crime. The police said other suspects in the case had to be arrested and sought police remand for Seerat, following which the court sent het to two-day police remand. Meanwhile, no more arrests have been made in the case as yet. The police claimed sending teams to various locations where it suspected the absconding accused might be hiding.
