A large number of residents, including women, of Shivjot Enclave, opposite the Tehsil Complex, here, today protested against the builder for not supplying them with drinking water for the past seven days.

The residents, including Neetu, Anju, Archana, Baljinder Kaur and Amit Sharma, told mediapersons that there were about 1,500 families in the colony. They were not getting proper supply of drinking water for the past two three years.

They alleged that due to low pressure and erratic supply of water, it fail to reach top floors in the colony.

They alleged that for the past seven days they were not getting even a single drop of water. They had discussed the matter with the developer many times but to no avail.

All residents took out a protest rally and raised slogans against the developers. They met the developers, Baljit Nain and Darshan Singh Shivjot, who is also a member of the Municipal Council, Kharar, near the water tank, where heated words were exchanged between the developer and the residents.

Meanwhile, the Baljit Nain misbehaved with the mediapersons. The police were informed about the incident. Later, Kharar SHO Inspector Satnam Singh, along with other police personnel, reached the spot.

The women alleged that they were charging Rs 500 per house monthly from them and even then, they were not getting the water supply. They have to spend Rs 800 to Rs 900 for getting water through tankers.

After the mediapersons complained to the SHO, he took the builder with him to the police station and resolved the matter there.

Meanwhile, a few women residents of the colony also alleged that the builder had misbehaved with them. They also visited the office of the DSP, Kharar, in this regard.

However the builders said there was a problem of water supply in the colony for the past two-three days due to some fault in the water pump of the tube well.

They said the problem would be resolved within a day or two and residents would get proper supply of water.
