Chandigarh, August 28

Stating that accused Sunita, Raj Kumar and Bhagat Singh are the real culprits and deserve no leniency of any sort, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Anshu Shukla today sentenced the three to life imprisonment. The court ordered that the convicts — Raj Kumar and Bhagat Singh — be sentenced to life imprisonment till the “remainder of their natural life”, implying that they will spend the rest of their life in prison.

The court stated that the convicts were apt to stringent and exemplary punishment for the kidnapping and elimination of an innocent little child after raping and committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault on her. The court stated that Sunita kept the innocent girl/prosecutrix in her custody and handed her over to the co-accused for the heinous, horrific and gruesome murder of the girl.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh on Sunita, guilty of murder, and Rs 1.60 lakh on Raj Kumar and Bhagat Singh, guilty of murder and rape.

Pinky, an 11-year-old girl and student of Class VI, was found strangled to death in a jute sack in a jungle area in Sector 52 on December 1, 2013. A Pulsora resident, Pinky, was missing since the previous four days and her family had lodged a missing complaint with the police. A student of a government school in Sector 54, she had left home on the evening of November 27, 2013, and did not return. According to the prosecution case, a dispute between Pinky’s family and Suneeta was the motive behind the crime.

Woman convict faints again

While the woman, Sunita, fainted in the court on August 25 when the court ordered her conviction, she raised a hue and cry in the court today after the orders sentencing her to life imprisonment were pronounced. She fainted twice even before the Judge sentenced her.

What court stated against woman in judgment

The court stated that the evidence on record clearly, convincingly and conclusively established and confirmed Sunita’s unfaltering, unflinching and unfailingly support and co-operation in hatching the conspiracy and its commission by the other accused.

Justice has prevailed, says father

Pinky’s father Ram Kirpal said they were satisfied that justice had prevailed.
