Woman ends her life; kin allege foul play

Chandigarh, September 12

A 32-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Sector 20. A relative of the victim saw her hanging after which she was rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where doctors declared her brought dead.

The victim’s family has alleged foul play and has blamed her husband Ashwani Kumar for forcing her to take the extreme step.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Sonu Gupta. She used to work at a bank in Sector 9. No suicide note was found by the police from the victim’s house.

The victim’s brother, Sandeep, has alleged that she was upset following some issues with her husband.

The victim’s family has submitted a complaint at the Sector 19 police station demanding action against her husband and his family members.

The police said they were looking into the allegations levelled by the victim’s family. Inquest proceedings have been initiated by the police. The body has been kept at the mortuary. The autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday. The victim is survived by an eight-year-old kid. — TNS
