Bhankarpur, February 5
A 32-year-old woman was crushed to death under the rear wheels of a bus while crossing the road here this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shalu (32), a resident of Mubarikpur Camp near Bhankarpur. She is survived by two children, aged five and seven years.
Ashwani Chandpuri, investigating officer, said the incident occurred around 6 am. The victim was returning after paying obeisance at a local gurdwara. As she was crossing the road, a Haryana Roadways bus coming from the Ambala side hit her. She fell on the road and her head was crushed under the rear wheels of the bus.
The bus driver fled from the spot. A case has been registered at the Dera Bassi police station. He has been booked under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by neglience) of the IPC.
The deceased’s husband, Vijay Kumar, works at a medicine factory in Mubarikpur.
