Patiala, May 9

A seven-member delegation of the Reserve bank of India (RBI), along with the Economics Department at Punjabi University, Patiala, organised a workshop on the formulation of India’s monetary policy at the university on Wednesday.

The panel members included the Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India, Dr Michael D Parta, and the Principal Advisor and member of the monetary policy committee of the Union Government, Dr Janak Raj.

During the workshop, officials informed students about the role played by the monetary policy formulated by the members of the committee. Dr Michael D Patra said, “Presently, the Indian economy is recovering. No economy can have a steady growth. The monetary policy regulates the economy and controls inflation.”

Dr Lakhvinder Singh, head of the Economics Department at Punjabi University, said students had taken up research projects, based on the monetary policy of the country.
