Our generation is passing on the legacy of community problems to the next generation, which has an important task at hand to look for solutions and make world a better place to live. This was stated by Dr Ela Gandhi, peace activist and granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi, while addressing students at the convocation of Chandigarh University in Gharuan today.

She said, “The world is facing several challenges such as poverty, inequality in terms of economic status. The youth have to contribute towards eliminating these social problems cutting beyond the caste, religion and color circles”.

While sharing the success mantra with the young graduates of the university, Dr Gandhi said: “Striving for hard work, creative thinking and following ethics and values in your life are three important ingredients that can lead to success in professional and personal arena”.

More than 450 students — 300 undergraduates of computer applications, animation, hotel management, commerce, and computer science courses and 150 postgraduate students of bio-technology, journalism and mass communication — were awarded degrees during the convocation ceremony.

More than 15 university toppers were awarded gold medals for their outstanding performance in academics in their respective streams.
