Youth caught raping minor in Sec 25

CHANDIGARH: High drama was witnessed today when a 21-year-old youth was caught raping a minor girl in the forest area near the dump at Sector 25.

High drama was witnessed today when a 21-year-old youth was caught raping a minor girl in the forest area near the dump at Sector 25. The victim, who is 13 years of age, raised the alarm after which a passerby rescued her and informed the police.

Sources said the accused, identified as Sunil Kumar (21) of Kansal, had assured the victim’s mother that he would find a job for her daughter. Today, the accused asked the victim’s mother to send her daughter along with him as he would get her placed somewhere. “The accused brought the girl near the dump and took her in the forest area,” said a police official

While the accused was raping her, the victim raised the alarm. Passerby rushed to rescue her and they nabbed the accused.

A case of rape under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSOA) has been registered against the accused. A medical examination of the victim was conducted at the local hospital.
