Youth stabbed by friend in forest area

Chandigarh, July 28 

A 17-year-old youth was stabbed by his friend near the forest area opposite the Bapu Dham Colony (BDC) over a girl. The victim who was stabbed 10 to 12 times was rushed to the PGI for immediate medical attention. 

According to the police, the accused identified as Arju, asked the victim, who is his neighbour at the BDC, Sector 26, to accompany him for an evening walk. 

The police said that as soon the duo reached the forest area, Arju started confronting the victim for calling up his girlfriend on the phone. 

The duo entered into an altercation following which the accused stabbed the youth with a knife which he was already carrying. The victim was stabbed 10 to 12 times. The accused then fled from the spot leaving the victim lying in a pool of blood. 

A passerby who was passing by heard the shrieks and called the police. A PCR vehicle was rushed to the spot that lifted the injured and got him admitted to the PGI. Police officials said the victim’s condition was said to be stable. 

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused at the IT Park police station and an investigation has been initiated. The accused was absconding and raids being conducted to nab him.
