Amritsar, June 18
To provide adequate infrastructure for government schools in the state, an amount of around 100 crores will be invested by the government, said Education Minister OP Soni. The money will be spent to provide facilities in terms of construction, furniture and playgrounds and other necessary items.
Soni said, “The government is keen on uplifting the infrastructure of the schools in the state. New rooms and computers will be provided to students. The old computers will be repaired, if needed. All this will be done in a phased manner. Our entire motive is to provide world class facilities to the students.” Besides, the infrastructural development, the education department is also eager to motivate students towards various sports by having a compulsory sports hour in the morning.
“We are starting a mandatory game activity period for all government schools across the state. We shall also be asking the private schools to look into the idea of the games. This is not a part of the ‘Khedo Punjab’,” added Soni.
Deputy Education Officer, Sunita Kiran, said, “We will make sure all schools follow it. This is great move to encourage students and involve them in physical activities.”
