TARN TARAN: The Goindwal Sahib police have busted a three-member gang of vehicle lifters. Two of them have been arrested. The gang is said to have been indulged in stealing vehicles.



TARN TARAN: The Goindwal Sahib police have busted a three-member gang of vehicle lifters. Two of them have been  arrested. The gang is said to have been indulged in stealing vehicles. They have been booked under Sections 379, 411, 471, 472 and 473 of the IPC. ASI Lakhwinder Singh, investigating officer, said the arrested persons had been identified as Navdeep Singh and Harpreet Singh of Vein Poin village. Their accomplice Prabhjit Singh of the same village has been on the run. A stolen bike has been recovered from the, the ASI added. According to the police, efforts are being made to arrest Prabhjit Singh. OC

Two booked for firing

Tarn Taran: Ashwani Kumar and his son Navjot Sood of the Goindwal Sahib road have been booked in connection with a firing case. ASI Gurbhshish Singh said the accused had opened fire at Satpal Sharma, husband of Sunita Sharma, senior vice -resident of the Municipal Council three days ago. Satpal had a narrow escape. Some financial issue is said to be the reason behind the firing. Sections 336, 427, 506 of the IPC, and 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms Act have been slapped on the accused. OC

Rotary’s award ceremony

Amritsar: The Rotary Club organised an event to give away vocational awards to select members of society. Awardees from different categories included Dr Balwinder Singh from the GNDU, Dr Dharamveer Singh, Dr Shalinder (artist), Dr Upasna and Dr Neeraj Malhotra among others. Tarn Taran DC Pardeep Sabarwal and SGPC member Ram Singh were the chief guests. Club president Dr Karan Dhawan and secretary Sarabjit Walia honoured the awardees. TNS

Nine camps

Amritsar: The district administration has appealed to the city residents to donate blood on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day that is observed on June 14 worldwide.
