AMRITSAR: Over 20 persons were booked for preventing a government official from performing his poll duty. The designated officer tried to remove illegal political hoardings and posters, when the accused misbehaved with him in the Amritsar South constituency.

Over 20 persons were booked for preventing a government official from performing his poll duty. The designated officer tried to remove illegal political hoardings and posters, when the accused misbehaved with him in the Amritsar South constituency. The police had booked Jaspal Masih, chairman of the Indian Christian Society, and his 20 companions.

In her complaint, Alka, Joint Commissioner, MC, said following the code of conduct pertaining to the upcoming elections, Harjinder Singh, a sanitary inspector, had been given the duty to remove illegal political hoardings, boards, flexes, banners from the Amritsar South constituency. Meanwhile, the accused opposed Inspector Harjinder Singh and his team for removing the hoardings.

The accused, along with 20 persons, misbehaved with the MC team.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashwani Kumar from the Gujarpura police post said the police had registered a case under Sections 171-F, 353, 186, 506, 148 and 49 of the IPC in this regard. — TNS
