3 arrested with illicit liquor

AMRITSAR: The city police has arrested three persons and recovered around 80 bottles of illicit liquor in separate instances during the past 24 hours.

The city police has arrested three persons and recovered around 80 bottles of illicit liquor in separate instances during the past 24 hours.

In a case registered at the A Division Police Station, a team led by head constable Rajinder Singh of the Special Investigation Staff arrested a person and seized 24 bottles of cash whisky from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Tungpai Batala Road. Similarly, a team led by head constable Baldev Singh arrested Sham Duggal of Judge Nagar and seized 24 bottles of cash whisky.

Separate cases under Sections 61,1 and 14 of the Excise Act have been registered against the accused.

Meanwhile, the Sultanwind police led by ASI Joginder Singh arrested a person, Lakha Singh, of Patti Balol village, Sultanwind, and recovered 30 bottles from his procession.
