3 held with liquor, live cartridges

Amritsar, June 25

The city police have arrested three persons and recovered two boxes of whisky, containing 24 bottles, and 96 bullets from their car. Those arrested were identified as Satnam Singh of Kaunke village, Lovepreet Singh of Achint Kot village and Harjinder Singh of Dhanoa village.

Rajesh Kumar, the investigating officer, said the police also impounded their car (bearing registration No. PB02 BH 6060).

He said they were taking the liquor for a marriage function. But during the checking, the police team also found 36 cartridges of .12 bore, 40 cartridges of .32 bore and 20 bullets of .32 bore.

The police have registered a case under the Excise Act and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against them.
