50 attend meet on GST, export incentives

AMRITSAR: The Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) and Joint Director General Foreign Trade, Amritsar, jointly organised an interactive meet on Goods and Services Tax (GST) and export incentive plans under Niryat Bandhu Scheme, here today.

The Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) and Joint Director General Foreign Trade, Amritsar, jointly organised an interactive meet on Goods and Services Tax (GST) and export incentive plans under Niryat Bandhu Scheme, here today.

More than 50 persons, including industrialists, businessmen and officials took part in the session.

Vinamar Gupta, a chartered accountant, gave a brief account of the GST. He exhorted industrialists to understand the concept of the GST and its process. He explained benefits of the GST against all taxes currently applicable in India. He also elaborated the complete process for registration under the GST.

Harvinder Singh, District Excise and Taxation Commissioner (DETC), asked all industrialists to get them registered under the GST as the government had fixed a deadline of March 15.

He said, “Industrialists should take the initiative through platforms of their associations. We are going to start visits in different industrial areas soon to spread awareness on the GST.”

“I will be campaigning in different industrial areas with my team,” he added. He also appreciated the FIEO for organising such fruitful sessions.
