Amritsar, January 13
In yet another seizure, the Central Jail authorities have confiscated seven mobile phones from inside the high-security Amritsar Central Jail here.
Following a complaint lodged by the Jail Superintendent, the police have booked an inmate identified as Shamsher Singh, a resident of the Bhikhiwind area from whose possession, the jail staff found a mobile phone. The remaining six cell phones were found abandoned at various places in the jail.
The police have registered a case under Section 420, IPC, and section 42, 52-A of the Prisoners Act in this regard.
The repeated instances of sneaking in and subsequent seizures of mobile phones have become a cause of worry for the jail authorities as well as various security and intelligence agencies. — TNS
