Industrialists should keep pace with the needs of the defence system and manufacture equipments as per the demands of the Air Force to make India self reliant in the field of defence, stated Air Marshal Sanjay Sharma, AVSM, Air Officer-in-charge, Maintenance.
Addressing industrialists at a seminar on ‘Indegenisation of tools, testers and ground equipment’ conducted as a part of the Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX) here today, he said it was high time to encourage the defence industry. Manufacturing of tools, testers and ground equipment should be started in the country to realise the dream of Make in India project, he said.
Presently India is dependent on other nations to fulfill these requirements, he lamented. He appealed to industrialists to come forward in this field and said the objective of such workshops and seminars was to ensure their participation.
“The industrial sector is still unaware about the day-to-day needs of the defence industry. It results in the import of costly defence equipment from the other countries,” he said.
