The Border Security Force offered sweets to Pakistan Rangers on the occasion of Diwali at the Attari-Wagah joint check-post on Thursday.
Sudeep Kumar, Commandant, BSF, at the Attari joint check-post handed over the sweets to Pakistan Rangers and exchanged pleasantries with his Pakistani counterpart, Bilal Ahmad, to mark the occasion.
Last year, the BSF did not exchange sweets and greetings with Paksitani Rangers due to heightened tension between the two neighbouring nations. The Indian Army had conducted a surgical strike in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir while accusing its government of supporting terrorist groups and unprovoked firing at the LoC. The BSF had skipped the tradition of exchanging sweets on several religious occasions in the past couple of years due to mounting tensions.
