Careless use of loudspeakers and dhols by political parties in election campaign for the upcoming MC elections have been creating nuisance in the city. The cacophony created with the use of loudspeakers mounted over auto rickshaws by party candidates is disturbing the calmness of city.

These auto rickshaws start moving in the area early in the morning and continue till late evening causing major annoyance among the voters.

These vehicles move on all roads, streets and lanes with the loud speakers broadcasting at very great volume. This results in serious noise pollution and causes great disturbance to the peace and tranquillity of the general public and all this is happening without any check of the administration.Voters are not in favour of loud sloganeering by supporters of candidates and want that political parties must behave in a civilised way to woo voters.

Harvinder Singh, resident of Majitha road said, “I am fed up with such mischievous act of the candidates. They must choose some noble way for their promotion and bring some change,” Komal Chawala, another resident of Batala road said, “I feel that door-to-door campaign is best way of campaigning rather than using loudspeakers”. The candidates can promote themselves through posters, pamphlets and hoardings and there is no need for using loudspeaker mounted auto-rickshaws, she added.

Baba Narinder Singh, a resident of Chehharta, said, “ I hate the harsh voice of commentator demanding votes for candidates. It seems that candidates are torturing us with this annoying tool of promotion. The authorities should keep a check on the use of this tool.”
