Acting on the directions of Defence Estate, the Cantonment Board has sealed a marriage palace, an illegal parking lot and a vehicle washing place located opposite to the District Courts Complex here. Commercial activities were going on in violation of the norms, it has been learnt.
Dheeraj Dhananjay, Chief Executive Officer of the Cantonment Board, today said that the owners of the three properties were issued notices for their “illegal” operations, but they failed give reply. “The three properties were originally a part of an old residential bungalow — Bangla No. 20 — given to a British official before Independence.
After independence, the bungalow was given on a lease. However, its residents divided the property into three portions and started a marriage palace, an illegal parking and a vehicle washing place.
Dhananjay said the owners of these properties were given notices and had been directed to stop the commercial activity it was a residential accommodation. He said the residents failed to revert, therefore, on the directions of Defence Estate, these buildings were sealed by the Cantonment Board.
