Amritsar, August 10
Health officials today distributed Albendazole tablets to schools and anganwari centres as part of its de-worming drive. The drive was formally kicked off by Civil Surgeon Dr Narinder Kaur by giving medicines to students at Government schools in Ghanupur Kale village.
The medicines are available at all 1,851 anganwari centres and 1,324 schools in the district. Children aged between 1 and 19 years will be administered the medicines.
Dr Narinder Kaur said a follow-up drive to administer the dose to children, who did not attend the school today or missed the medicine due to any reason, would be organised on August 17.
She said de-worming of the children was necessary to ensure their better physical growth. She said schools had also been requested to educate children about the need for personal hygiene.
