A seminar on contribution of Bhai Veer Singh to Punjabi literature and Sikhism was organised yesterday at his residence on Lawrence Road, which has been converted into a museum. Dr Prithipal Singh Kapoor presided over the function. Several research papers on his literary and religious activism were presented on the occasion.

Avneet Kaur, a research scholar from Guru Nanak Studies Department at Guru Nanak Dev University said Bhai Veer Singh advocated the traditional knowledge pattern of Sikhs to challenge western schools of thoughts introduced by Britishers during their rule.

Key speaker Dr Dharam Singh threw light on versatile literary works of Bhai Veer Singh. Dr Kulwinder Singh Bajwa talked about his rational attitude when he edited old manuscripts. He reviewed Bhai Veer’s book in which he writes about myths about Guru Gobind Singh.

Dr Sukhwinder Kaur talked about “Bijay Singh”, a novel by Bhai Veer Singh. Dr Prithipal Singh Kapoor touched several aspects of of Bhai Veer Singh’s personality in his presidential address.

Organiser, Dr Joginder Singh thanked the audience. He said such programmes would be organised in future too.
