Elderly man found dead

Amritsar: A 60-year old man identified as Kamal Kishore of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar area was found dead at Raminder Singh Bolaria park popularly known as Sakatari Bagh. Krishna Devi, his wife, stated to the police that her husband was suffering from paralysis and he used to walk with the help of a stick. She said on Sunday, he went out for a walk but did not return. Later, the family members started looking for him. They came to know about the body in Sakatari Bagh. She suspected that some person had hit him with a stone that hit him in the head, thereby killing him on the spot. The Division C police station has registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC against unknown persons. Further investigation is on. TNS

Petrol pump robbed

Amritsar: Five armed persons looted a petrol pump on the intervening night of October 15-16. They took away Rs 25,000 after taking the employees hostage. A case has been registered in this regard. Ravinder Singh, a resident of Manawala and an employee of the petrol pump, stated to the police that for the past two years he had been working with A-one (Hindustan Petroleum) petrol pump at Manawala village. He said at 2 am on Monday, five youths with their faces covered entered the petrol pump. They had a pistol and a sharp-edged weapon in their hands. They pointed a pistol at his head and a sharp-edged weapon at Sukhwant Singh’s neck and took away Rs 25,000 from an almirah. The incident came to light when fellow employees reached the filling station in the morning. A case under Section 379-B of the IPC has been registered at Lopoke police station. TNS

One booked for rape

Tarn Taran: Rashpal Singh alias Latoo of Sankattra village has been booked under Sections 376 and 452 of the IPC by the Khemkaran police for allegedly raping a girl. The case was registered last evening. In a statement recorded by a 19-year-old girl of the same village, it has been alleged that the accused had been harassing her for months. As a result, her parents sent her to the nearby Rattoke village at her relatives’ place, she added. The accused went to the Rattoke raped her, she said. The accused managed to run away from the spot.
