The Improvement Trust today launched an anti-encroachment drive in its posh Ranjit Avenue area. Many manually driven carts serving eatable food items were removed during the drive.

It was undertaken at the District Shopping Complex and other spots in the Ranjit Avenue locality. Over the years, the number of handcarts have increased manifold and complaints had been pouring in regarding the same.

Suresh Mahajan, Chairman, Improvement Trust, said rehirwalas were not removing the waste generated all over the day by them. This was creating an unhygienic environment in the area. Despite warnings given by the authorities, they were not acting against the refuse.
