Finance firm employee injured in robbery bid

AMRITSAR: A finance company employee was injured here last evening when two armed robbers shot at him in a bid to loot cash from him.

A finance company employee was injured here last evening when two armed robbers shot at him in a bid to loot cash from him.

The victim, identified as Talwinder Singh, was collecting monthly instalments from the firm’s clients in Rasulpura Kalan village, falling under the Jandiala Guru police station. He suffered a bullet injury in his leg. The suspects, who had covered their faces, had to escape from the spot after people gathered there on hearing the gunshots. The victim was taken to hospital.

He had Rs 1.60 lakh cash in his bag at the time of the incident. Talwinder, a resident of the Majitha road area, said he worked in Laxmi Finance Company, which gave loans to local women entrepreneurs. He said he had collected monthly instalments and had reached Rasulpura Kalan village. He said two motorcycle-borne youths with covered faces were standing across the road. As he parked his bike, the accused fired upon him and a bullet hit his right leg.
