Five proposals passed at F&CC meeting

The Finance and Contractual Committee (F&CC) of the Municipal Corporation (MC) passed five proposals at a meeting here today. Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora and Municipal Commissioner Gurlovleen Singh Sidhu gave approval to buy 12 tractors for the solid waste management.

The MC had received Rs 4.08 crore from the Centre government under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. The Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company passed rates of tractors as per the Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals.

The Health Department of the MC had written to the F&CC for requirement of 10 tractors on urgent basis. The committee allowed the Health Department to buy 12 tractors for the solid waste management.

Similarly, the F&CC passed a proposal to buy stationery worth Rs 5.50 lakh for 2016-17. Apart from this, the MC gave approval for installation of elevator for public utility at Chinmaya Amrit at Ranjit Avenue. Earlier, the MC received Rs 13 lakh under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme for the purpose.

The F&CC also gave approval for the fabrication of a fire tender truck, which was bought earlier.

Meanwile, three proposals were rejected by Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora. According to the three proposals, the Fire Department required additional blue uniforms for 78 employees and officials, 39 khakhi winter and 32 woollen winter uniforms. As the Mayor was not satisfied with companies shortlisted for supply of uniforms, so he turned down the proposals.

Arora said, “We had eight proposals in the meeting. We gave approval to five and rejected three proposals. A meeting of the F&CC will be called in the first week of April. Revised and some other proposals will be taken up in this meeting.”

Senior officials of the civic body, including Municipal Commissioner Gurlovleen Singh Sidhu, municipal health officer Ajay Kanwar and superintending engineer Parduman Singh, attended the meeting.
