Amritsar: Unidentified miscreants snatched a hand bag from a woman opposite Alpha One Mall here on Monday. Victim Jiwanjyoti Kaur told the police that she was waiting for a rickshaw opposite Alpha one Mall when two youth on a Discover motorcycle came and snatched the handbag containing Aadhaar card of her and her daughter, ID card, PAN card, ATM card and Rs 1,700. The accused fled the spot. The police have registered a case under section 379-B of the IPC.

Woman held for theft

A woman has been arrested from Galiara Park near the Golden Temple for stealing cellphones. The police have recovered 11 cellphones from her. The accused has been identified as Anju, the wife of Buta Singh, a resident of Pakka village in Muktsar Sahib. Assistant Sub-Inspector Daljit Singh, Incharge, Galiara Police post, said the police got a tip-off from reliable sources that the accused was present in Galiara Park. They had raided the park and arrested her, the Assistant Sub-Inspector added. The accused has been identified as Anju, the wife of Buta Singh, a resident of Pakka village in Muktsar Sahib. The police have recovered 11 cellphones from her. A case under Section 379 and 411 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in this regard. TNS
