Amritsar: Passengers of the Amritsar-Chandigarh Inter-city Express train were a harried lot as the train’s departure was delayed. As per the schedule, the train was to depart at 4.30 pm but it managed to chug off only after 7 pm.

Amritsar: Passengers of the Amritsar-Chandigarh Inter-city Express train were a harried lot as the train’s departure was delayed. As per the schedule, the train was to depart at 4.30 pm but it managed to chug off only after 7 pm. Station Director Amarjit Singh said a technical glitch resulted in the delay. TNS

Quack booked

Tarn Taran: A woman of Mohalla Guru Ka Khuh has been booked for reportedly facilitating deliveries and carrying out abortions even though she has no requisite qualification. Identified as Sumitra Devi, she is at large. Health officials had received a complaint against the accused, who had not been registered with the Health Department. Medicines, syringes and other apparatus meant for deliveries and other medical services were seized from her house. She is at large. OC

Gunshot fired

Amritsar: Unknown persons opened fire and fled away in Ranjit Avenue B block on Saturday evening. The police have registered a case. Robin Hans, in-charge, Ranjit Avenue police post, said efforts were on to identify them. — TNS
