The election campaign of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Amritsar (South), Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjer, got a boost today as party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s son and daughter — Pulkit and Harshita — went door-to-door explaining policies of the party to residents in the walled city.
Starting from Gilwali Gate, the brother-sister duo along with party supporters passed through Namak Mandi, Atta Mandi and Chintpurni Chowk and interacted with people from diverse walks of life.
Brimming with confidence, the children said their father and mother had a vision to transform the present India into a nation that was a dream of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh.
“AAP is not like traditional political parties where leaders contest elections with an eye on plum posts. It is an ideology that aims to end deep rooted corruption and cleanse the political and administrative system with a broom of righteousness,” they added.
Dr Nijjer said people had given a good response to the campaign. His daughter Simran Dhillon also accompanied the children during campaigning.
