AMRITSAR: The Division B police booked a Ferozepur resident, Sant Ram, for allegedly trying to rape a minor on Monday evening.

The Division B police booked a Ferozepur resident, Sant Ram, for allegedly trying to rape a minor on Monday evening.

The victim’s father complained to the police yesterday that his four-year-old daughter was playing outside the house, but did not return. Thereafter he went to the house of the accused in search of the girl. He alleged that the accused was performing objectionable acts on his daughter. On seeing him, the accused fled. The police said the accused was on the run and would be arrested soon. A case under Sections 376 and 511 of the IPC and Section 5 of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered. — TNS
