The field staff of the Municipal Corporation (MC), including safai karamcharis, today threatened to join the strike of the civic body employees in case their pending salary is not released. The pen-down strike has been going on for four days.

Members of the Sanjhi Sangharsh Committee visited all offices and sought support from employees. Offices were open but no work was done. The visitors were harassed due to the strike.

Meanwhile, MC officials claimed that the salaries for June had been disbursed, but the unionists had been demanding two-month salary.

Vinod Kumar Bitta, general secretary of the Sanjhi Sangharsh Committee, said if MC Commissioner failed to fulfill their demands, safai karmacharis would also join the strike.
