Amritsar, February 16

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) will depute more observers than last year to curb the practice of mass copying. Officials of the board are preparing lists of sensitive examination centres. The examinations for Class XII are scheduled to begin from February 28.

According to information, the PSEB will be adopting some new methods to check copying. Officials are conducting meetings at district levels to make flying squad teams more effective. They are planning to send teams at all examination centres.

Dr Suresh Kumar Tandon, vice-chairman of the Punjab School Education Board said, “Earlier, flying teams used to visit some schools twice or thrice a day but, no one checked examination centres located in the remote areas. Now, we are planning to give a route plan to teams so that flying squads can cover every examination centre in the region.”

Officials have also suggested deployment of observers at sensitive examination centers.

He said, “Flying teams can visit any school and check students. Those indulging in copying can be stopped from doing so within a few minutes.”

“It has been observed that when a team leaves the examination centre, students start copying again. So, we have decided to deploy observers at sensitive centers. They will be there for three hours. It will be more effective to stop the practice,” added Tandon.

Examination centres at border schools in the district are infamous for copying. Every year, the board makes several efforts to stop the practice. Last year, the PSEB had videographed sensitive centres.
