One killed in road mishap

AMRITSAR: A man lost his life while another was injured when a speeding car hit them near Guru Ram Das Old Age Home on Amritsar-Tarn Taran link road near Uppar Bari Doab Canal here today.

A man lost his life while another was injured when a speeding car hit them near Guru Ram Das Old Age Home on Amritsar-Tarn Taran link road near Uppar Bari Doab Canal here today. 

The deceased was identified as Ravinder Singh, son of Balwinder Singh, and the injured was Sandeep Singh, son of Charanjit Singh, of Thande village. — TNS

Satnam Singh, in charge, Sultanwind police chowki, said both the victims used to work as labourers and were standing on the roadside when the driver of a speeding car lost control over the vehicle and hit them. The car was loaded with auto spare parts.  The driver fled from the spot, leaving the car behind. 

Satnam Singh said a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 337 and 338, IPC, had been registered against the unknown car driver. He said investigations were underway to identify and arrest him.
