One nabbed on attempt to murder charge

The Chheharta police have arrested Deep Singh of Inderpuri area on charges of attempt to murder after he hit Mukesh Ram of Kot Khalsa area with bricks. Old enmity is stated to be the reason behind the incident.

The victim was admitted to a hospital with serious head injuries and his condition is stated to be serious.

Sangeeta Devi, wife of the victim, said that on Sunday evening, her husband had gone to see their relatives off. She said after sometime, she heard a hue and cry outside the house. She said when he went outside, she found that her husband was lying on the street and bleeding profusely while the accused was hitting him with bricks and stones lying on the roadside.

She said she raised the alarm and rushed to rescue her husband. She said the accused fled from the spot. She admitted Mukesh to a private hospital where his condition is stated to be serious. Gurjit Singh, investigating officer and in charge Kot Khalsa police chowki, said that Deep was arrested and sent to judicial remand.
