Passing objectionable remarks on a girl having dinner with members of her family at a private resort on Airport road led to firing. Though the incident occurred on March 20 evening, a case was registered only yesterday.

On the statement of the girl’s brother, the police have booked around 12 persons who allegedly thrashed the victims and fired several gun shots during the quarrel.

Prabhul Chopra, the complainant, stated to the police that he was a cloth trader having his shop in the Guru Ka Mehal area. He said that he along with his family had gone to a resort on Airport road for dinner. He said they were sitting on the first floor of the resort where some boys were sitting on the opposite table. The accused allegedly passed some remarks at his sister and her friend. He said when they objected to this, the accused entered into a brawl with them.

Thereafter, the accused came downstairs and called several more persons who beat them and opened fire in air before running away. Among those booked were identified as Jai deep, Harkirat and Jagjit Kohli besides 10 unidentified persons.

Sahib Singh, investigating officer, said that following the complaint, a case under Sections 336, 354-A, 427, 148, 149, IPC, and 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the culprits. He said raids were being conducted to arrest them. Further investigations were under progress, he added.
