A patient from Gurdaspur with swine flu symptoms was shifted to Sri Guru Ram Das Ji Hospital here today. Her samples have been sent to the swine flu laboratory at Government Medical College.
Meanwhile, the lab released reports of seven samples it had received from hospitals in Ludhiana district two days ago. Of them, two samples have been found positive, an official said. The swine flu lab, which had become operational two years ago, is proving a boon for patients as reports are readily available in a short period of time.
The lab is getting samples not only from districts across the state, but also from other states, such as Jammu. Earlier, hospitals in the district as well as other cities were sending samples to Delhi and PGI, Chandigarh.
While most private hospitals sent samples to Delhi, it took long before the reports were received back.
“The facility here has helped patients as well as doctors as reports are available easily,” said District Epidemiologist Dr Madan Mohan. No patient from the district has been found swine flu positive so far, he said.
