Amritsar, February 17

The Pensioners Welfare Association held its monthly meeting to discuss the association’s move on delayed release of funds by the government. The meeting was held at Company Bagh and chaired by the president, Surjit Singh Goraya.

Senior leaders of the association attended the meet, where Sukhdeep Singh Pannu, general secretary, pensioners association, said that the previous government has failed to release interim relief and funds to the pensioners according to the Fifth and Sixth Pay Commission recommendations. “The upgraded pension and allowances recommended in the Fifth and Sixth Pay Commission have been deliberately delayed to deny us our rights.  There is a lot of anger and disappointment among the pensioners across the state due to this and we demand that interim relief be released immediately. — TNS
