Post office to hold camps to promote philately

AMRITSAR: To motivate city students to take up the art of writing letters and collecting stamps, the Amritsar head post office is set to organise philately camps.

To motivate city students to take up the art of writing letters and collecting stamps, the Amritsar head post office is set to organise philately camps.

The post office authorities have written to the heads of government and private schools in this regard and also invited applications to participate in letter writing competitions under ‘Dhai Akhar’. The theme of the same is ‘Letter to nation’.

Makhan Singh, senior superintendent, head post office, Amritsar, said, “The students will be informed about post office and various facilities available for the public.”

Vijay Kumar, senior postmaster at the General Post Office (head office), said, “We are in process of contacting school principals for the same. The date will be finalised soon.”
