Amritsar, October 20

Expanding its horizon, the airmail service is now available for Pune, Kolkata and New Delhi.

Launched by the Postal Department last year, the services, including speed post and express parcel, will transported by the selected flights to the destined places from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport at a nominal price.

The system covers metro cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. As of now, residents can send their parcels through airlines to six cities. They can get their parcels booked at the General Head Post Office. Even, the parcels from nearby places or post offices can utilise the service provided by the Postal Department.

The aim of the mode was to promote business, trade, commerce and industrial activities. Vijay Kumar, senior post master, General Post Office, (head office), Amritsar, said “The service is being provided for Pune, Kolkata and New Delhi, besides other metro cities. It is an effective tool for instant delivery.” — TNS
