Workers of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday staged a protest outside the Hall gate area against the rape and murder incidents in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh that shook the entire nation and fuelled protest all over the country.
They demanded death sentence for the guilty, who brutally raped a minor in Kathua and later killed her. Condemning PM Modi’s silence over the shocking incidents, communist leaders headed by district secretary Amarjit Singh Asal said BJP has divided the people on religion and castes lines and disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of the country. He said it is inexplicable how the father of girl, who was allegedly raped by a BJP MLA in Unnao, was beaten to death in police presence.
Asal said, “Our Prime Minister did not utter a word and was busy in touring foreign nations.” The activists demanded the culprits should be hanged and set-up fast track courts.
Among prominent present included Lakhbir Singh Nizampura, Vijay Kumar, Daswinder Kaur, Jagtar Singh Mahilawala and Balwinder Singh Dudhala.
