Roadblock: SAD leaders booked

Tarn Taran: The top SAD leadership of the district including former SAD MLAs Virsa Singh Valtoha, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, SGPC member Khushwinder Singh Bhatia and as many as 60 other leaders have been booked under sections 283, 341, 431, 427, 148, 149, 188 of the  IPC for blocking road traffic. Inspector Rajesh Kakkar, SHO Sadar Patti, said the accused had staged a dharna on the Kot Budha Bridge for two days. OC

BDPO’s work interrupted

Amritsar: The Amritsar rural police have booked a person for allegedly abusing and interrupting a block development and panchayat officer (BDPO) in Majitha from discharging his duty. Paramjit Singh, BDPO, Majitha, in his complaint to the police alleged that he had gone to Kotla Majjawal regarding some development works going on there. The accused, Rashpal Singh alias Pappa, of same village came there and started interrupting the government work. He allegedly hurled abuses at the BDPO and did not allow the work to continue. Following his complaint, the police have booked Rashpal under Sections 353 (disrupting government servant from discharging his duty),186, 506 (threatening), 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code. No arrest has been made so far, a police official said. TNS
