A function to mark Ayurveda Day was organised today at the Jallianwala Bagh Martyrs Memorial Civil Hospital.
The district Ayurveda wing organised a medical check-up camp and a seminar ‘Pain management through Ayurveda’.
The event was inaugurated by District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr Amarjit Singh Basra and senior medical officer Dr Charanjit Singh. Ayurvedic experts Dr Kuldeep Singh, Dr Satinderjit Kaur, Dr Sonia Sharma, Dr Mandeep Kaur and Dr Amritpal Kaur diagnosed and distributed medicines among patients during the camp.
Talking about the services offered by the Ayurveda wing, Dr Amarjit Singh Basra said they were running dispensaries at various places in the district where free medicines were given to patients.
He said the wing was also running a Yoga and meditation centre at the Civil Hospital. Dr Basra said Ayurveda had been practiced in the country for centuries. He said many people preferred Ayurveda over allopathic medicines.
