Amritsar: A seminar on entrepreneurship development was organised by National Career Service, Ministry of Labour and Employment, at Guru Nanak Dev University College, Verka, on Monday.



Amritsar: A seminar on entrepreneurship development was organised by National Career Service, Ministry of Labour and Employment, at Guru Nanak Dev University College, Verka, on Monday. Rahul from National Career Services was the chief speaker of the seminar. Dr Dharmjit Singh, principal, GNDU College, also attended the seminar. During the seminar, Rahul apprised the students of various schemes such as import-export policy, National Career Service programme and MUDRA. Prof Puneet Randhawa, Prof Sobit Rehan, Professor Shamma, Professor Keerti, Professor Sakshi Mahajan and Prof Navneet Mehta were present at the seminar.

Traders meet CM

Amritsar: A delegation of Punjab Pardesh Beopar Mandal members met Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh here on Monday. It apprised the CM of the problems faced by traders. Pyare Lal Seth, Sameer Jain, SK Wadhwa and BK Bajaj were a part of the delegation. They urged the CM to raise their concerns before the GST council. They also demanded from the government to raise their demand for decreasing the GST on shawls from 18 per cent to 5 per cent. TNS

Applications sought for admissions

Amritsar: Guru Nanak Dev University has invited the applications for vacant seats in the BTech (Urban and Regional Planning) and Master of Planning (Infrastructure) courses for the session 2017-18. For admission to the Master of Planning (Infrastructure) course, only those candidates are eligible to apply who appeared for the Joint Entrance Test (JET) conducted by the department on July 11. Students will get admissions on the merit of the JET. For admission to the BTech (Urban and Regional Planning) course, the eligibility is Class XII with mathematics and English with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate or 10+3 diploma in any stream, which includes mathematics and English, and recognised by the Central or state governments with 50 per cent marks in aggregate. The last date to deposit the application fee and submission of online application form is August 16. Counseling will be held on August 17 at 10.00 am. TNS

Youth held for sexual assault

Amritsar: The Islamabad police have arrested a man for sexually assaulting a woman. The accused has been identified as Raju of Basarke Bhaini village. The victim told the police that when she was returning home from a gurdwara on a rickshaw. The victim said as she reached near Railway Colony, B-Block, the accused stopped her rickshaw and started harassing her sexually and tried to rape her. The police have registered a case against the accused. TNS

Boy kidnapped

Amritsar: A minor boy, Rohit, son of Ashok Pande of the Chheharta area, have gone missing for the past one week. He had gone to his school in the Guru Nanak Pura area but did not return. Ashok suspected that his son was kidnapped by unidentified persons from the school. The police have registered a kidnapping case in this connection. TNS

Man booked for fraud

Amritsar: The Rambagh police have booked Paramjit Singh of City Colony for allegedly duping local resident Brij Mohan Singh on the pretext of sending him abroad. He alleged the accused took Rs 2 lakh from him for sending him abroad. He said the accused neither returned his money nor sent him abroad. A case of fraud was registered against the accused. TNS
